Date set for former calypso queen’s trial

Former Calypso Monarch Aziza Kebret Tsgaye Clarke, who is accused of assisting a now convicted murderer, is scheduled to go on trial June 12.

The 26-year-old, of Bonnetts, Brittons Hill, St Michael, reappeared in the No. 5 Supreme Court, where she is a facing an indictment that knowing or believing Hakeem Stuart had committed an arrestable offence of murder, she assisted him by transporting him from Briar Hall to Graeme Hall, both in Christ Church – an act intended to impede his lawful apprehension on March 21, 2019.

She was represented by Senior Counsel Michael Lashley and his team, while Principal State Counsel Krystal Delaney and State Counsel Tito Holder appeared for the prosecution.

Justice Pamela Beckles set June 12 as the new trial date.

Clarke remains on bail pending her next appearance. (HLE)
