Call to reinforce religious values

Barbadians are being urged to return to the tried and tested traditional institutions that instil a moral centre in children.

This is the position of Registrar of the Supreme Court, Barbara Cooke-Alleyne, who said that according to research by the court, many young offenders lacked the upbringing which served as a moral compass for previous generations.

Cooke-Alleyne, who was delivering the featured remarks at the PAREDOS parenting seminar at Christ Church Parish Church yesterday, explained that among the grounding tools to which she referred included Sunday school.

She premised her point by asking the mothers and fathers in attendance how many of their charges attended Sunday school, to which very few replied in the affirmative. (CLM)
