Executive chairman of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Juliet Bynoe-Sutherland, spent her last day on the job yesterday, saying goodbye to colleagues and friends.

She joined the hospital on December 18, 2019, and led its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She and her management team executed major infrastructural and programmatic changes as part of a service-transformation initiative during her tenure.

“Serving the QEH has been the honour of a lifetime. Today, gathering with staff to say farewell was overwhelming and emotional,” she told the Saturday Sun last night. “I have loved working with the team here at QEH.

“All that we have achieved is testimony to their commitment and I am humbled to have played a leadership role at this critical juncture in national development,” she added.

Bynoe-Sutherland leaves to pursue another professional opportunity.

Her departure will lead to a return of the separation of the roles of chairman and chief executive officer (CEO).

In a statement released on the news of her pending departure more than a month ago, it was revealed that requirements to facilitate those changes were being addressed by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Recruitment of a new CEO was launched locally and internationally on April 16. (BA)
