Stoute awaiting word from doctors

As veteran entertainer Richard Stoute awaits word from the doctors about his health, he says his faith in God remains firm.

That is the disposition the 77-year-old patriarch of the Richard Stoute Teen Talent Contest

has taken over the past five days as a patient of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, the maker of Heaven and Earth. Man will fail you but God will not, so my mental strength comes from God. I have a very strong religious obligation to God and I believe that is what has made me the man that I am today,” Stoute said during a cellphone interview yesterday.

He said he went to the hospital after not feeling well over the weekend.

“I’ve never been hospitalised in my life so this is new for me, so life is a challenge, but I am 77 years old, I’m not 17 . . . . But right now I am waiting on the doctors to get back to tell me what their findings are. When they do that I’ll be able to see what I have to do from there,” he added.

Since news of his hospitalisation spread, Barbadians have showed their support on social media, which Stoute said he appreciated.

He is hoping to be discharged in time for the start of the 47th installation of his annual Teen Talent competition.

“I love them . . . so I am asking God to keep me here a little longer. I am looking forward to attending Teen Talent on October 1.”
