One of the country’s tertiary education institutions is closing for almost a month, from today.

Government revealed over the weekend in a media statement that the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) will be shut down until November 17 “for urgent, unavoidable repairs”.

Efforts yesterday to reach principal Ian Drakes to get details on the closure were unsuccessful.

Theoretical classes for all full-time programmes will be conducted online, starting tomorrow. Face-to-face classes within the Distance and Continuing Division/Open and Flexible Learning Centre will be suspended from today until the institution reopens. However, theoretical instruction will continue online.

All administrative services offered on the SJPI campus will remain available remotely, and staff will continue to assist via email, online and the telephone.
