Fire officials have responded and contained a fire that broke out in the electrical room of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) around 2:05 p.m. Tuesday.

As a precaution, a few departments near the back entrance of the hospital were evacuated. Electricity across the hospital plant has not been affected, and patient care has not been compromised.

Management is currently continuing its assessment of the damage caused.

There has been no change to visiting hours and the hospital remains open to care for patients. (PR)
