Air Canada celebrated its 74th year travelling to Barbados yesterday during a special reception at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA).

When the 272 passengers, ten crew, including Captain Karen Mundell, touched down, they were welcomed by local tourism and Canadian officials, a band, stiltwalkers and dancers.

Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Shelly Williams, thanked Air Canada and its team for their great service to Barbados over the years.

“Air Canada was the first flight we welcomed back post-COVID, so we continue to have a wonderful relationship with Canada and with the airline,” she said.

Williams added that Air Canada’s confidence in Barbados was underscored when it recently made the island its hub for a part of the region.  (TSG)

  1. Barbados should have a stronger Canadian tourist market than it presently has….. E.g as.much as Jamaica is said to be high crime look at it’s Canadian and north America marker in comparison to ours
