Flow charging more

Some of Flow’s post-paid mobile phone customers now have to pay more for their service.

The telecommunications company recently notified customers of price increases for 16 monthly service packages, attributing it primarily to “increased costs associated with doing business and the rising demand for mobile data and connections across Barbados”.

Flow, the trading brand of Cable & Wireless, confirmed the price increases in a statement yesterday.

“Flow Barbados remains steadfast in its commitment to provide its customers with the very best products, value, and service experience,” the company said.

“After careful consideration, we must address the realities of the recent changes in the economic landscape, particularly the increased costs associated with doing business and the rising demand for mobile data and voice connections.”

Flow said that “as we strive to maintain exceptional standards of service delivery, it was necessary to adjust the pricing structure of some of our post-paid mobile plans effective November 1, 2023”.

The company added: “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this adjustment is driven by our unwavering commitment to supply the best products, services, and connectivity options for the communities we serve.

“It is also important to note that our market-leading Plus, Max, Standard and Family Plus plans now include roll over data for one billing cycle and these plans also include unlimited local calls to any network in Barbados and low out-of-plan data rates.”

Flow also invited customers to “visit www.discoverflow.co to see if any of our plans better suits their needs and customers can select another option from our current service offerings without penalty”.

Some customers reported being taken by surprise by the recent announcement, with one complaining that “this has been communicated to customers in a notice on its website, . . . the method of communication could have been better.”

The post-paid service increases announced by Flow cover a range of packages.

For example, based on information on the company’s website, the G_Bcool Service package has increased from $16.70 to $20.00 value added tax (VAT) inclusive, while the cost of the Postpaid Full House has increased from $260 to $280 VAT inclusive. (SC)
