Run Barbados Race Series this weekend

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. will host its annual Run Barbados Race Series this weekend on Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10, 2023, on the Ermie Bourne Highway, commonly known as East Coast Road. The 5K and 10K runs take place on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. and both will start at Barclays Park. The Half Marathon and Marathon are slated for Sunday at 5:30 a.m. and the starting point is again Barclays Park.

This event is expected to cause an interruption of vehicular traffic on the stipulated route which is as follows:

ROUTE:

All events except the Marathon and Half Marathon will commence at Barclays Park, travel to Cattlewash and return via the same route, whilst the Marathon and Half Marathon will travel from Barclays Park to Cattlewash where there is a turning point; return to Barclays Park then continue to the junction at Belleplaine, turn left and travel to Coggins where there is a turning point; back to Belleplaine, then to Walkers onto Greenland where there is a turning point; then back to Belleplaine onto Ermie Bourne Highway to finish at Barclays Park. The Marathon will take the same route twice, finishing at Barclays Park.
NO PARKING:
On Saturday, December 9, there will be no parking between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. along Barclays Park.
 
On Sunday, December 10, there will be no parking between 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. along Barclays Park.
EMERGENCY ROUTE
In the event of an emergency, the routes listed beneath will be from the racing facility to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
From Barclays Park: Barclays Park, Belleplaine, Greeneland, Welch Town, Portland, Pleasant Hall, Benn Hill, Mile-And-A-Quarter, White Hall, Highway 2A, ABC Highway, Waterford, Station Hill Road, Halls Road, Martindale’s Road to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Alternate Route 1: Ermie Bourne Highway, Horse Hill, Groves, Market Hill, Hothersal Turning, Station Hill, James A.Tudor Roundabout, Halls Road, Martindale’s Road to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Alternate Route 2: Ermie Bourne Highway, Haggatts, St Sylvan’s Village, Mount Wilton, Proute, Bibby’s Lane, Hothersal Turning, Station Hill, James A. Tudor Roundabout, Halls Road, Martindale’s Road to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. (PR/KNB)
