Greenidge: No pension reform
Recent concerns raised about possible changes to Government’s pension arrangement with public workers, which was mentioned in the most recent review of the Barbados economy by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is being categorised by a senior economic advisor to the ruling administration, as much ado about nothing.
Dr Kevin Greenidge says contrary to the views of some pundits, the IMF has instigated no such reform to the pension system.
Rather the report was pointing to Government’s commitment to do an actuarial review of the pension system every two years and one such review was completed last November.
He said that this has been par for the course for years and was by no means a new pre-requisite. (CLM)
