QEH ‘ready for asthmatics’

BARBADIANS WITH ASTHMA and other respiratory issues appear to be holding firm amidst the dangerous ash falling from the La Soufrière volcano.

But should things get worse, says acting Director of Medical Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Dr Chaynie Williams, they are more than prepared for any surge in people turning up for treatment over the next few days.

She told the DAILY NATION yesterday that only just over 20 people had presented to the Accident & Emergency Department (A& E) in the last 48 hours with asthma or breathing difficulties. (BA)
