State sorry for omission
An apology has been tendered to the parliamentarians who were not in attendance to take the Oath of Allegiance to Barbados during the National Independence Honours Ceremony in Golden Square Freedom Park on Independence Day.
Arrangements are now being made for them to take the oath before President Sandra Mason.
Following the highlighting of the situation in Thursday’s DAILY NATION, the absentees, some of whom did not receive an invitation to the event and were not informed that the oath was being taken, were sent a letter of apology dated December 2 by the Cabinet Office.
They were informed: “The Cabinet Office is in the process of making arrangements with State House for the Oath of Allegiance to be taken in the presence of Her Excellency the President of Barbados and the details of this will be communicated shortly.” (MB)
