Players must prove themselves!
KARACHI – West Indies head coach Phil Simmons said the white-ball Tour of Pakistan presented an opportunity for the young players selected on the squads to make their mark and show they are ready to take the Caribbean side forward.
The Windies arrived on Thursday for a series of three Twenty20 Internationals on December 13, 14, and 16, and three One-day Internationals on December 18, 20, and 22 – all at the National Stadium in Karachi.
“We’re looking to see who’s going to put their hands up to be a major player in this team,” Simmons said at a virtual news conference yesterday.
Several uncapped or unproven players have earned call-ups for the series, including Barbados Pride pair of Justin Greaves and Shamarh Brooks, as well as Guyana Amazon Jaguars left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, who was a travelling reserve for the recent ICC T20 World Cup. (CMC)
