Crowning glory

THE ST MICHAEL School ended Lester Vaughan’s two-year reign while creating history by winning the boys title for the first time at the 2017 PowerAde Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships (BSSAC), which concluded yesterday at the National Stadium.

St Michael, who finished seventh last year but added five CARIFTA athletes from different schools to their outfit, were runaway winners with 313 points. Harrison College were second on 259.50 points, with Christ Church Foundation third on 196.50 among the boys. Two-time defending champions Burger King Lester Vaughan had to settle for fourth place on 179.50 points.

Christ Church Foundation captured their second straight girls’ crown with 332 points, well clear of former queens, Scotiabank Springer Memorial (264.53). Harrison College (221.83) just edged The St Michael School (221.33) for third place.
