Nation, US Embassy putting spotlight on Haiti

The Nation Publishing Co. Limited will be hosting the United States Embassy in a social media initiative on Thursday to highlight the current situation in Haiti, six months after a devastating earthquake struck the capital of Port-au-Prince.The United States Embassy chargé d’affaires for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Dr Brent Hardt, and the USAID director for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Jim Goggin, will be leading a discussion on the Nation’s Facebook Page at 5 p.m., on the role of the United States and the progress of the reconstruction efforts in Haiti.
This initiative is seen by both the Nation and the US Embassy as a way of redirecting attention to Haiti and to encourage donors to honour pledges made at the Haiti reconstruction conference in March.Facebook users interested in participating in this exciting discussion can do so by joining the Nation Publishing Co.
