BARBADOS’ UNDER-13 title winning cricket squad is safe and sound in St Kitts.
Team management gave the assurance yesterday as the Barbadians are currently shacked up in the Basseterre Community Centre in preparation for the impending system, Hurricane Earle.
Speaking to NATIONSPORT via phone, manager Adrian Donovan said the centre was a registered hurricane shelter and that the team had been getting regular visits from the chairman of the local district emergency management agency, Lloyd Lazar, and the deputy prime minister.
“We just want the parents and guardians to know that the boys are safe and are in fine spirits,” informed Donovan.
“The weather is okay right now although the country is expecting bad weather. But we have already taken the necessary precautions of stocking up on non-perishable items.”
Barbados wrapped up their fourth successive St Kitts Festival title and seventh in eight years on Saturday after defeating then fellow unbeatens Nevis in a virtual final in the tournament finale.
The Barbadians were slated to start their campaign in the Ten10 format of the championships today. (JM)
