THE WEATHER IS expected to improve tomorrow as the Barbados Meteorological Office does not expect the nearby tropical wave to pose any significant threat.
Acting senior meteorologist Clairmonte Williams said, while the “strong” tropical wave, which caused overcast conditions, showers and thunderstorms, had the potential to develop further, it should have passed over the island chain before it does so.
“The axis of the wave is near 57-58 degrees west (Barbados is positioned at 59 degrees west) so it is east of us and is expected to move through.
“There is a broad area of low pressure associated with the wave and once you see low pressure, there is the potential for a wave to develop into a depression and then a storm but I don’t see this happening within the next six to 12 hours and by then it would definitely have passed the island chain,” he said.
Williams advised Barbadians to expect continued cloudy conditions but to look for reduced shower activity, although he said there should also still be a few scattered showers recorded.
He also reported the meteorological office was not expecting any problems with flooding as the “worst had passed”.
