Inniss:Pay up or lose lot

Delinquent land owners need to pay up for debushing or lose their lots.
Minister of Health Donville Inniss issued this warning yesterday as he disclosed that debushing bills totalling $378 441.72 had been sent out at the end of July and so far $60 691.58 had been received from land owners or their agents.
At a Press conference at his ministry’s Culloden Road office, Inniss said the Government continued to be challenged by a large number of unkempt lots which posed serious public health risks.
He pointed out that there were 5 000 vacant lots to be cleaned and the annual debushing programme was not a revenue generating exercise for the Government.
Parliament has approved expenditure of $800 000 for the debushing programme.
