THE AUDITOR GENERAL will be asked to conduct a special audit of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler said yesterday that the planned audit was not about looking for missing money, but rather to look at expenditures and revenues at the campus.
“I have had to reflect on it since coming into office [Ministry of Finance] and . . . I think that sooner rather than later, I’m going to have to invite the Auditor General to do a special audit into the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus), not to find any wrongdoing – because, you know, as soon as you hear a special audit people feel you are going looking for somebody who has stolen money.
“That’s not what we are about. We want to get the real situation of financing at the university, of issues of expenditure, of revenue,” Sinckler said during a Press conference carried lived on radio during which he dealt with a number of economic issues. (ES)
