CRICKET – 2ND DIGICEL ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL: WEST INDIES VS AUSTRALIA
West Indies squared the Digicel One-Day International series against Australia with a five-wicket win at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex in St Vincent.
Off-spinner Sunil Narine mesmerized the Australians with a haul of four for 27 as the visitors managed 154 for nine off 40 overs in a rain-shortened match.
The hosts lost Kieran Powell off the first ball of their reply and faced a challenge at 74 for four in pursuit of a revised target of 158 in 40 overs.
Kieron Pollard titled the balance by striking four sixes in an unbeaten 47 off 61 balls as West Indies got home with ten balls to spare.
The series is now tied at 1-1 after Australia won the first match on Friday.
The victory marks the first time West Indies have beaten Australia in an ODI since October 2006.
CRICKET – WICB REGIONAL FOUR-DAY COMPETITION
Barbados completed an emphatic innings victory over Leeward Islands early on the third day of their sixth round WICB four-day match at Kensington Oval.
Leewards, resuming their second innings on 121 five still and still trailing by 58, were dismissed for 172 just after 11 a.m. on the penultimate day.
It gave Barbados victory by an innings and seven runs and it was their third win in five matches, following earlier successes against Trinidad and Tobago and Combined Campuses and Colleges.
Left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn finished with five for 53 from 17 overs while fast bowler Christopher Jordan took four for 41 in 14.1 overs.
It was the Leewards’ fourth defeat in five matches this season.
Over at the Queen’s Park Stadium in Grenada, Windward Islands beat Combined Campuses and Colleges by 22 runs in an exciting finish.
Chasing 133 to win, CCC were reduced to 71 for nine, tumbling in the face of a seven-wicket haul by off-spinner Shane Shillingford before the last wicket pair of Floyd Reifer and Akeem Dewar staged a fightback.
Reifer, who remained unbeaten on 31, and Dewar added 38 before left-arm pacer Delorn Johnson clinched victory for the Windwards by bowling the No. 11 for 15.
Earlier, Windwards, starting the day on 106 for four, fell for 191, with pacer Jason Holder and off-spinner Ryan Austin each grabbing three wickets.
At the Queen’s Park Oval, hosts Trinidad and Tobago captured first innings points against Guyana.
Replying the visitors 290, Trinidad and Tobago made 349, a response that centered around opener Adrian Barath’s 114 and supporting knocks of 58 each by Marlon Barclay and Kevon Cooper.
In the second turn at the crease, Guyana reached 31 for two at stumps.
CRICKET – INSPIRE SPORTS/NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL UNDER-13 FINAL
Dover Juniors ended three-time defending champions Fusionz Boutique Passage United’s reign as Inspire Sports/National Sports Council Under-13 champions with a big win by 79 runs in a low-scoring final at the 3Ws Oval.
Dover, batting first on winning the toss, made 134 in 33.2 overs, a total dominated by 74 from in-form Limar Pierce, who struck six fours and two sixes off 106 balls.
Passage United never got going and were shot out for a modest 55 in 32.1 overs:

CRICKET – ASIA CUP: INDIA VS PAKISTAN
India beat Pakistan by six wickets in a high-scoring Asia Cup match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Set 330 to win after centuries from Nasir Jamshed (112) and Mohammad Hafeez (105) lifted Pakistan to an imposing total, India won with 2.1 overs remaining on the back of a superb 183 by Virat Kohli 183, 68 from Rohit Sharma 68 and 52 by Sachin Tendulkar.
FOOTBALL – ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE & FA CUP
LONDON – Manchester United ruthlessly ripped apart 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers to stroll to a 5-0 victory on and move four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Newcastle United beat Norwich City 1-0 in the day’s other game, Papiss Cisse’s superbly taken early goal keeping the north-east club sixth in the table.
In FA Cup action, Fernando Torres scored his first goal since October to help Chelsea crush Leicester
City 5-2 and Liverpool beatStoke City 2-1 to reach the semi-finals.
