NAB workers off the job

Over 100 National Assistance Board (NAB) workers stayed off the job this morning protesting what they term “the over-looking” of one of the longstanding employees for the senior position of team leader.
Workers believe Enid Maynard has been with the NAB from its inception 30 years ago was the person overlooked. Workers described the board’s move to require four CXC certificates for qualification for the post is unfair.
Wayne Waldron, senior industrial officer of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) was present this morning and told workers: “These jobs of home-help don’t require academics. It is not right.”
Workers gathered outside the NAB headquarters at Country Road, St Michael.
The workers have pledged to continue protest action until the matter is resolved for Maynard to get the job. (TS)
