Polls don’t vote.
Cabinet Minister Michael Lashley made this comment yesterday, while asserting that the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) had done enough over the last four years not to be worried about a new poll pointing to a national swing against his Government.
Last night at a DLP St James North constituency branch meeting at St Alban’s Primary School, Lashley told party faithful “not to be flustered” by the latest CADRES?survey published in yesterday’s SUNDAY?SUN that indicates strong dissatisfaction with the performance of the Freundel Stuart-led administration.
“I want Barbadians to look at the programmes . . . we have presented to you over the last four years,” he said. “We have scored high in health care, housing. We have built schools, made our mark in education and introduced summer camps and provided free bus fares for schoolchildren.
“When you examine our work, Barbadians cannot fault our performance, given the constraints and the environment in which we had to act. So you have to go out there in your numbers and fight for this great party. Polls don’t vote.
“We have done well thus far. No one has been laid off in the public sector and we have had no complaints about the hospital under the leadership of Donville Inniss and we have restarted the St John Polyclinic,” he said.
