The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Family, Culture, Youth and Sport is calling for a research-driven policy on parenting.
Speaking at the inaugural National Parenting Conference at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre last Saturday, Irvine Best said the conference should focus on the need for research in order to develop a policy on parenting initiatives.
Such research, he added, could help to develop appropriate responses to some of the challenges which the home and school were experiencing.
Best said that Barbados, under the United Nations and the Convention On The Rights Of The Child, sought to satisfy the rights of children and most of them grew to become well adjusted adults. (LK)
