The Barbados Netball Association has terminated the contracts of the management staff of the national Under-21 team, less than three months before Barbados head off to the World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
On Wednesday night, coach Sonya Knight, assistant coach Marion Johnson-Hurley and manager Denese Morgan were handed termination letters.
“ . . . In the interest of achieving and maintaining the objectives of the board, we thought it necessary at this time to terminate your position(s)  . . .  with immediate effect,” the letters said.
The letters, which were signed by BNA secretary Daisy Browne, said that the BNA  “. . . have observed several shortcomings with the management of this Under-21 squad which we have tried to address on several occasions”.
Knight and former national players Morgan and Johnson-Hurley held their positions since 2010.
