THE UNIVERSITY ofthe West Indies Chronic Disease Research Centre (CDRC) is being called on to work with the Ministry of Health in designing and conducting research to determine the best ways to support and sustain healthy behaviour choices.
This call came from Chief Medical OfficerDr Joy St John as she delivered remarks during the opening ceremony of the Cave Hill Campus’ annual Wellness Week.
St John encouraged the university to use its vast resources to strengthenits health promotion efforts, which can be achieved through research that leads to the application of knowledge and partnerships with her ministry.
The medical officer said that the ministry already had a strong relationship with the CDRC, whichhosts the Barbados National Registry, a relationship with which the ministry was pleased and as a result will soon be talking to the public about fundingthe registry. (AH)
