Jones’ take on school sex

The publication of the story of two secondary schoolchildren engaging in sexual activity at school has been described by Minister of Education Ronald Jones as a missed chance to educate the society.
Jones, who was speaking in detail for the first time since the story appeared in the SATURDAY SUN, said he questioned why a newspaper that was supposed to educate sought to portray the activity as it did.
“Where is the teaching moment for the country as a whole? Does the country need teaching moments, or do they need the salacious contribution of an errant journalist? Somehow, somebody has missed something somewhere. The teaching moment missed, the opportunity to change or to help to change a nation missed,” he said.
Jones said that the graphic detail of the activity of the two students, with the use of words such as thrust, pulled and plunged, was unnecessary. (LK)
