It’s horse racing time at the Garrison Savannah once again on Boxing Day.
Diamonds International will continue its sponsorship of the sport of kings for the holiday season. The company has again partnered with the Barbados Turf Club to stage the Diamonds International/Crown Of Light Boxing Day races at the Garrison Savannah from 1 p.m. next Thursday.
Now in its 14th year of sponsorship, Diamonds International has shifted the format slightly as it is throwing full sponsorship behind the feature race, the Diamonds International/Crown Of Light Boxing Day Stakes And Trophy, a Grade I race for three-year-old and older horses over 1 570 metres.
Five horses are down to challenge Shared Adventure. Among them are 2011 Gold Cup winner Zoom and this year’s Derby winner Knight Rider. This was revealed at a Press briefing in the Incitatus Lounge at the offices of the Barbados Turf Club yesterday.
Diamonds International will also have supporting features in race four, the Boxing Day Juvenile Open Condition Race for imported two-year-olds over 1 570 metres. Among the entries are winners Just A Fashion and Wild Cat Tea, who will compete against seven others.
The company will also sponsor race six, the Diamonds International Vena/ D’Amore Condition Race for West Indian-bred two-year olds over 1 570 metres. This event will see the unbeaten Kariba Rose looking to make it win number four on the trot.
