SCARBROUGH, Tobago (CMC) – The principal of a prominent primary school will re-appear in court on March 10 after he appeared before a magistrate yesterday on 14 sexual related offences.
David Smith was granted TT$400 000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Glen Mahabir in the Scarborough Court.
All 14 charges were indictable and Smith was not called upon to plead. The charges range from indecent assault to serious indecency.
As a condition of his bail, the school principal must report to a police station twice weekly. He is also to stay away from his alleged victims.
Media reports yesterday said four female victims have so far been identified in the case, their ages ranging from 10 to 12 years. They are all pupils of the primary school.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred on the school compound over a period of a year. (CMC)
