Bajan scenes

THE WORKS of artists can be found almost anywhere.
So it was no surprise recently when pieces of art were found hanging in the lounge of Waves Hotel and Spa at Prospect, St James.
Right there in the foyer are paintings depicting various local scenes and lifestyles; like the Signal Station inSt George; East Coast Road, St Andrew; clothes dangling on a line in the backyard; beach scenes and buildings.
It seems there is always a scene, or rather a painting, to remind you of the beauty of the Barbadian landscape.
Trees, flowers, plants, fishermen, the stillness there is in not “seeing” the wind blowing on the trees, or perhaps the joy there is in seeing a breadfruit  ripe forthe picking.
Perhaps if you pay a visit to Waves Hotel and Spa, you’ll appreciate the fact that many of our artists, with no real place to call “home”, often hang their creations some place where the maddening crowd is sure to find them, view them, and perhaps purchase them.
On any given Monday, artists are invited to showcase their works for alland sundry at the hotel. (CH)
