Fire exit dispute

A BRIDGETOWN PROPERTY OWNER owner is calling on Government to develop property easement legislation for Bridgetown.

Ryan Thorpe, who operates Mumtaz Deli at Roebuck Street, The City, said this should be done as a matter of urgency to solve issues relating to fire exits and evacuations in the capital city, where most properties are built next to the property line.

Easement is a right to cross or otherwise use someone else’s land for a specified purpose.

Thorpe made this call because the property owner next to him has placed a gate across Mumtaz’s exit door, which was supposed to be used as a fire escape.
