Mixed moods

THERE WERE TWO DIFFERENT MOODS yesterday morning when the 18 semi-finalists for the Pic-O-De-Crop were announced.

A sombre and visibly shaken Ronnie De Announcer Clarke, seen conferring with Cave Shepherd All Stars tent manager Eleanor Rice, was left out of the list, while screams of joy and delight were heard from people from Headliners and House of Soca.

All Stars was the last tent to be judged on Thursday night and their location of Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre was the meeting point for the announcement.

At 1:10 a.m., National Cultural Foundation’s corporate communiations specialist Simone Codrington read the names to the waiting.

While polite applause was heard for some, there were murmurs of “How Gabby get in?” and screams and hugs of delight from calypsonians who were scattered around.
