BAS head pushing breadfruit industry

IT HAS ALWAYS been a part of the Barbadian diet.

However, a serious attempt is now being made to develop a breadfruit industry with the assistance of the University of the West Indies.

The Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) has secured the assistance of the regional academics and a United States-based expert to host a conference during the fourth quarter of this year.

Chief executive of the BAS James Paul explained that the project was aimed at teaching farmers and other interest groups about the varieties of breadfruit on the island, ways to boost production and products that could be developed. (WILLCOMM)
