THE EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS TRIBUNAL (ERT) will hear the case of 80 former National Conservation Commission (NCC) works on September 30 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC).

Chairman Hal Gollop Q.C. said today the matter would be heard at LESC because there was high interest in the matter and the public would be able to attend.

Almost 200 NCC workers were severed last year as part of government cuts and the matter was eventually referred to the ERT following weeks of negotiations and protests involving the trade unions.

Gollop was at the time presenting Minister of Labour Esther Byer Suckoo with the transcript, evidence and decision of the first case of the reconvened ERT at her office in the Warrens Complex.

The ERT ruled in favour of former KPMG employee Joel Leacock, awarding damages of $77 176.92. (MB)
