JUST UNDER 40 000 income tax returns dating back to 2013 have been cleared and an attempt is now being made to expedite those outstanding for 2014.
That’s the word from Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, who said revenue authorities had dealt with 95 per cent of the backlog from two years ago.
And he is urging residents who have not received their returns to contact the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) since this could mean there was a problem.
Earlier this year, Sinckler had promised that the 2013 income tax returns would be paid out by the end of September.
In the meantime, he said, attention had turned to accelerating the processing of 2014 returns to avoid a repeat of what occurred the previous year.
