Sir Allan knocks stock exchange

BUSINESSMAN Sir Allan Fields is questioning the failure of the Barbados Stock Exchange to put a stop so far to the sale of Banks Holdings Limited (BHL) shares.

Sir Allan, a former BHL chairman, said it would be the appropriate action to take while Brazilian beer giant AmBev battles Trinidad-based ANSA McAL for control of the Barbadian beverage conglomerate.

AmBev is making the bid for BHL through St Lucian-registered SLU Beverages Ltd, a company it acquired just two months ago. However, SLU has been a BHL shareholder for about ten years.
