STUDENTS AT THE Blackman and Gollop Primary School were today graced with the presence of local royalty as Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave urged them to engage in healthy pursuits.

Underscored by the theme Firm Craftsmen of our Fate, the Head of State told students at the Staple Grove, Christ Church institution to display patriotism as citizens of Barbados.

He encouraged those listening to appreciate what they have and to work their hardest. To those who have ambitions, the 84-year-old warned that they must concentrate on their work and to study in the early while cutting out certain pleasures like television.

Sir Elliott cautioned them to steer clear of illegal drugs and sharp edged weapons.

Via dance performances, musical tributes and dramatic presentations, students expressed appreciation for the Head of State’s visit. (MR)
