BARBADOS HAS LOST one of its long-serving academics and beloved musicians.

Norma Holder, a former principal of the Barbados Community College (BCC), passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) early yesterday morning after she was taken there on Friday.

Her lifelong companion and husband of 54 years, Jean Holder, confirmed to the DAILY NATION his wife’s passing.

A devastated Holder said: “I have lost a very precious companion and wife. What was lovely was that she shared my interests and I shared hers. We did everything together.”

The two met when they were students at Oxford University in Britain.

“There is nothing I can do but grieve her loss. We had a very beautiful life,” he said.
