Dogs kill 10 sheep in one night
IN A MATTER OF HOURS, Emmerson Gittens’ prized ewes were killed, reducing his flock of sheep from 35 to 25.
The deadly attack occurred early yesterday morning and four of the dead were “heavy with young” while four other sheep were so severely bitten they had to be put down.
In tears, the small farmer said he was finished with farming and even though it was his love, he could not continue to take the loss. This time around, the estimated worth is $3 500, while three weeks ago three lambs were slain in a similar attack.
“The ewes were pure-bred Black Belly sheep and they were heavy with kid. I could get $600 to $700 for one of them. They usually give about three to four young at a time,” Gittens said.
