INDAR WEIR has another chance to represent the people of Barbados, this time in the constituency of St Philip South.

Weir, who failed in his bid against Michael Lashley in St Philip North in the last General Election, won the nomination for the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) by a handsome margin. He took 48 of the votes cast to defeat challengers Mona Alleyne, who finished with 17, Ahmed Proverbs with eight and Sylvan Greenidge who finished with seven.

Shouts rang out in the Hilda Skeene Primary School around 7:34 p.m. when the final score was announced by BLP general secretary Jerome Walcott. He had led in each of the three boxes and the announcement was a foregone conclusion. (YB)
