Thanks to all Barbadians

ON APRIL 16, a strong earthquake physically rocked our nation Ecuador.

Dear Barbados, during this difficult time for Ecuador, we saw how invaluable, unconditional and precious your love for our country was, no matter religion, nationality or social status.

From the first moment we knew that Barbados was not going to turn its back on us. Certainly, we were not wrong.

You shared with us the highest values of humanity, that is, solidarity, compassion unity, empathy and much more.

We have received monetary contributions of $8 060 and about two tons of food, toiletries, clothing and medical supplies for victims of the earthquake.

For your display of solidarity, we say thanks, Barbados. It was not only the physical contributions but also people asking about our families, praying for the unity of our nation and worried about our future.

We came here for academic purposes but we got more. Thank you for responding to our call. We will soon leave the island but we will carry this beautiful land in our minds and hearts – a land in which no matter how difficult things can get, people will always be there to support and help.

We really appreciate every single act of kindness. Your support has showed us that Barbadians are big-hearted people.
