POLICE ARE REPORTING a decline in criminal activity in the environs of The City.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Erwin Boyce praised the partnership with Caribbean LED Lighting and the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) during the chamber’s monthly luncheon at Hilton Barbados yesterday.
“Through partnership with these two entities, we have been able to create another complexion to The City. We attacked crime prevention through environmental design, and realised we needed to make day feel like day and night feel like day. We recognise that street crime occurs when areas are poorly lit, and we realise that Bridgetown had been a dark city,” said Boyce.
He said it was the force’s intention to increase pedestrian traffic and make businesses feel safer. (RA)
