MINISTER OF FINANCE Chris Sinckler has made it clear that while his Government is not fundamentally opposed to privatisation, the island’s social services are off limit.
According to him, a look at some former state entities such as the Arawak Cement Plant and Almond Beach Village, that were entrusted to private companies, represented concrete proof why health, education, water and to a substantial degree public transport should never be allowed out of Government’s hands.
“You have to draw the line and our line in the sand draws at social services,” he told a crowd of Democratic Labour Party (DLP) supporters at a joint Christ Church constituency meeting on Sunday night.
