Day of upsets likely

IT COULD be a day of upsets when the second edition of the Ansa McAl Racing Festival/Winter Jockeys’ Championship Raceday runs off at the historic Garrison Savannah today.

Beginning at noon, the action-packed ten-race programme will have three feature races with purses totalling $185 246 in addition to four thrilling challenge races featuring jockeys from Britain and Barbados.

The Barbados Turf Club was forced to cancel day one after persistent rainfall in the last two weeks and, with inclement weather still likely, track conditions could be on the soft side – a perfect prescription for Daunting David to deliver an upset in the feature Ansa Mcal Barbados Limited Stakes and Trophy over 1 570 metres.
