A FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Barbados until 6 p.m. today, says the Barbados Meteorological Services.
A flood warning means some flooding is already occurring or is likely to occur. The combination of a low-level trough and the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone has been generating pockets of moderate to heavy showers and periods of rain across Barbados during the last few hours.
These conditions are expected to persist during the afternoon with some improvement likely into tonight.
Rainfall accumulations of at least 2 to 3 inches (50 to 75 millimetres) are possible. Thus residents in flood prone areas should take the necessary precautions.
An update will be made at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
