Man pleads not guilty to marijuana, cocaine charges

A ST MICHAEL MAN who allegedly tried to throw away drugs when he was being interviewed by police, will reappear in court next year.

Michael McCarthy Montrose, 37, of Barbarees Hill, St Michael pleaded not guilty to possession of 39.4 grams of cannabis, possession with intent to supply and trafficking as well as possession of cocaine, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of 9.70 grams of cocaine.

Police say they were on patrol in Baxters Road on November 17 when they met Montrose.

While he was being interviewed, Montrose is alleged to have thrown away a number of plastic containers and escaped.

He was later arrested and charged, but pleaded not guilty when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Friday.

Montrose was granted bail of $3 000 with one surety and is scheduled to reappear in court on March 14, 2017. (PR/SAT)
