THE PRIZE MONEY is back up, and so too are the numbers.

Run Barbados’ organisers have reported a substantial rise in participants for this weekend’s marathon festival after increasing the prize money this year to make the event the richest road race series in the Caribbean again.

Race coordinator Zary Evelyn disclosed the information ahead of tonight’s start to the festival, revealing the series is expecting 2 200 competitors – up from the 2015 total of 1 900.

“We have the marathon back and last year we had 35 people and this year we have 80 people, so we’re looking at some good numbers,” Evelyn told WEEKENDSPORT. (JM)
