BHTA’s plea

PUT THE COUNTRY FIRST and don’t sabotage the economy.

The appeal has come from Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) chairman Roseanne Myers, as the pay dispute at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) drags on, affecting thousands of visitors to the island during the country’s peak winter tourist season.

The impasse has led to nearly two weeks of protests by some staff members and a go-slow disrupting the airport’s smooth flow of operations.

But as the GAIA management considers a new wages and salaries proposal from the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Myers issued a direct appeal to former general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union, Sir Roy Trotman, to intervene. (WILLCOMM/GE)
