WORTHING BEACH is safe.
Environmental officials revealed at a press conference yesterday that conditions at the popular south coast beach were in nothing less than pristine condition in the time following the opening of the sluice gate and controversial closure of the beach in the first week of December.
Director of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD), Anthony Headley, expounded on the details of the extensive testing yesterday as he spoke to members of the media at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
Headley said that Barbados had adopted the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) standards for assessing recreational water quality. The EPD director explained that the standard mandated that five samples taken over a 30-day period in the related area.
