WOMEN’S FOOTBALL needs a greater push to attract new players.

That’s the assessment of Richard Forde, coach of the National Sports Council (NSC), runaway champions in the Barbados Football Association’s Women’s League.

In an interview with NATIONSPORT, Forde said more should be done to recruit younger players since the seasonal players were on their way out of the sport.

“We had the grassroots football this year. What people were hoping is that they would join clubs but when you look back, probably one or two girls joined clubs, and we had over 250 participants, so it isn’t good enough,” he said. (RG)
