Inniss calls for BRA issues to be solved

THE CURRENT IMPASSE between Government and the trade unions over the formation of the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) needs to be fixed, pronto.

In a hard-hitting speech yesterday, Minister of Commerce and Industry Donville Inniss not only called for those issues to be ironed out, but put a direct challenge to those “who threaten to shut down the country”.

Speaking at a Customs Brokers and Clerks Association general meeting, Inniss said that after deep discussions, Government had decided that the BRA was a real and present part of the country’s financial, administrative and commercial landscape.

While noting its formation had some imperfections thus far,the minister threw down the gauntlet to those unnamed parties involved in the slowdown to the Revenue Authority’s acceptance. (AD)
